I’m considering opening a chain of coffee shops. You ask, “Why would you want to do that?” Simple, I don’t like the choices of coffee shops I have in my neighborhood. Again you ask, “What do you know about coffee?” Well, I have been to Colombia, a few times, Costa Rica, twice, and Kona once and I know a coffee plant when I see it, if it has the little red berries on it. I’ve been drinking coffee for more than 60 years. To paraphrase Brett, I like coffee.
But enough with my qualifications to operate a coffee shop. The Number One, El Primero, reason I’m opening a chain of coffee shops is I vote. Except when out of the country several times, I have not missed voting in an election since 1962. Howard Schultz has only voted 11 times in the last 38 elections in Seattle going back to 2005. For God’s sake even Donald Trump has voted in 20 of 41 elections . Schultz is down there with Carly Fiorina and Meg Whitman when it comes to seeking public office with a history of not voting. I figure that if you think you can be President without participating in our political system, I should be able to open a damn coffee shop.
