Election night bedtime story -
In loving deference to Margaret Wise Brown and Clement Hurd who blessed all of us with Goodnight Moon
(please feel free to illustrate with your "favorites" and repost on Wednesday)
Goodbye Goon
In the dark back room
There were snarling goons
A red playbook
And a picture of -
An elephant led by the band of goons
And there were three little fools sitting on stools
And two big buffoons
And a pair of dried prunes
And a washed up souse
And a backstabbing louse
And a bag filled with money and a large pork pie, and a chest containing the HUGE, BIG LIE
And a nasty lady who was hissing "you die"
Goodbye room
Goodbye goon
Goodbye elephant led by the goons
Goodbye darkness and the red playbook
Goodbye fools and Goodbye stools
Goodbye buffoons and Goodbye dried prunes
Goodbye cheats and bought-off seats
Goodbye souse and Goodbye louse
Goodbye blood money and Goodbye pork pie
Goodbye nobodies and Goodbye LIE
And goodbye to the nasty lady who was hissing "you die"
Goodbye fallen stars
Goodbye dank air
Goodbye corruption everywhere.
