We are seething with powerful emotions tonight. After a rush of hope earlier this evening that justice might prevail, and Troy Davis' life might be spared, his execution is an even deeper shock. I feel physically sick. At the grievous, irrevocable loss and sorrow of his family. At the horror of state-sanctioned homicide, which makes us all complicit in his death. At the appalling global company we Americans keep, murdering our own citizens: China, Iran, North Korea, Yemen, Saudia Arabia, Libya. (Linky)
I'd like to share a prayer for Troy. And provide a place to offer prayers for his loved ones, and for our troubled nation.
Oh Lord, support us all the day long, until the shadows lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then, in thy mercy, grant us a safe lodging, and a holy rest, and peace at the last. Amen.
-A Prayer for Evening, from The Episcopal Book of Common Prayer
Rest in peace, Troy. Your work is done. Our work continues...and shall not cease until this barbaric, archaic and immoral practice is abolished in our land.
Please feel free to share your thoughts and prayers here.

"Do not weep for Troy Anthony Davis, he will be with God; weep for Georgia and for our Nation. Capital punishment is barbaric."
