7:58 PM PT (Steve Singiser): On what will, in all probability, be the final liveblog thread of the night, let's quickly recap the night. Mitt Romney sweeps the 2/28 primaries, but one victory was far less impressive than the other. In Michigan, with 86 percent reporting, Romney leads Rick Santorum by a 41-38 margin. While in line with late polling, it is a fraction of the margin of victory he enjoyed in 2008, and equates to about a 28,000 vote margin. In Arizona, the margin is far wider: with about half of the precincts in, Romney romped to a 48-26 win.

When Mitt Romney says his campaign is about saving the soul of the country, he means posthumously baptizing all of us.

8:09 PM PT (Steve Singiser): Of course, there is one undetermined result tonight, and it is not an unimportant one. It is still unclear who will be awarded more delegates in Michigan. When all is said and done (and it might be morning before we know for sure), there's still at least a marginal chance that Rick Santorum will actually win more delegates in Michigan. He'll still lose the night overall, as Arizona was winner-take-all, and Romney cleaned up there.
8:15 PM PT (Steve Singiser): In non-presidential news, the special election to replace recalled Republican Rep. Paul Scott in Michigan's 51st HD is now over, with Republican Joseph Graves an 11-point winner over Democrat Stephen Losey (53-42). For those looking for perspective on the margin of victory, the GOP won here with Scott by 20 points in 2010 (60-40), but won the district by a considerably smaller margin in 2008 (53-47). This one falls, as it happens, in between.

Santorum strategist John Brabender says they may have bested Romney in delegates. "So, we may have won Michigan." I agree!
