Thought it was time to see what everyone was up to. How is treatment going? How is post treatment going? How are you surviving your survival of cancer? Are you newly diagnosed? Are you ready for the long strange trip?
Two pieces of quick business. We “spoke” of reading and discussing a book on line. Did we pick one? Shall we?
Also, Kate and I were thinking of having the Monday Night Cancer Club send a standard message to those receiving Community Quilts due to cancer.
This is our first draft:
"We've got you covered with our care and support. Come visit with us any time; we are here for you. The Monday Night Cancer Club."
Anyone want to chime in? We thought we could take turns paying and/or everyone could pitch in just a bit.
My recovery is coming along well. My Acupuncturist has me on an herb called Jade Windscreen for my immune system. I haven’t been sick since. Hooray!
I am on a new drug that wakes me up VERY early in the am. I don’t usually get up till 10:30 or later. Today I was up at 6 am and by 1pm I thought it was 4pm. By 4pm I needed a nap.
I’m going to bed at 2am instead of my normal 4am, but I think I may have to start even earlier. Other than that I’m a 5 on a scale of 10. Before cancer I was only a 6 so I guess that’s ok.
What about you?
Monday Night Cancer Club is a Daily Kos group focused on dealing with cancer, primarily for cancer survivors and caregivers, though clinicians, researchers, and others with a special interest are also welcome. Volunteer diarists post Monday evenings between 7:30-8:30 PM ET on topics related to living with cancer, which is very broadly defined to include physical, spiritual, emotional and cognitive aspects. Mindful of the controversies endemic to cancer prevention and treatment, we ask that both diarists and commenters keep an open mind regarding strategies for surviving cancer, whether based in traditional, Eastern, Western, allopathic or other medical practices. This is a club no one wants to join, in truth, and compassion will help us make it through the challenge together.
