Apologies if this was posted, I will delete if so.
So by now everyone knows that Michael Steele, GOP candidate for the open seat in Maryland, was the guy who critcized President Bush to the Washington Post's Dana Milbank. Well, now, he is
saying, um, never mind, k?
Republican Senate candidate Michael Steele on Wednesday called President Bush his "homeboy," reversed course on having the president campaign for him and said he was joking when he described his Republican affiliation as a scarlet letter.
hmm, "reversed course." Why do I think that if it was a Democrat, the AP would use stronger language, like flip-flop? He was against the president campaigning for him before he was for it. Or something like that. :)
He also said his independence makes him best suited for the job.
"The president doesn't want a sycophant in the United States Senate. He wants an honest broker for the people of Maryland. He doesn't want a 'yes' man. He wants someone who's going to be genuine in his approach to solving the problems. And that's me," Steele said
I would completely agree if the last line has said "And that's Ben Cardin/Kweisi Mfume."
Neither Ton Snow nor Steele's boss, Bob Ehrlich, seem to want to address the comments themselves or what their/the president's reaction was to them. BTW, Does Steele even talk about the issues specifically?
