Just reading all the post election diary on this site just shows me that Democrats and I mean all of the population Democrats, not just those in Congress, doesn't know how to hold on to power once they get it.
UPDATE!
I apologize for the wrong spelling. This is my second attempt at a diary and I am feeling so discouraged this morning after last night's results and the negative overtones of many diaries, I just wanted to express myself in a diary rather than a comment. For the record, I did use spell check and corrected as needed.
When you look over the past 20 months, regardless of the policies that were made and are in the making, what did Republicans do? NOTHING! yet they won a majority in the House and added seats in the Senate.
So who got them back into power? Their policies or lack thereof? Their leadership? Their attempt to block the Democratic legislature progress?
NO! Despite their opposition Republicans weren't able to stop everything. So why did they win?
They had outside help. The tea party who are really dis-enchanted Republicans and Libertarians took on the populist message and organized. Not just ONE tea party, but many tea party organization. The Republicans saw an opportunity to coop the the tea party and made it bigger. The corporations seized the tea party message and was able to redirect it against congress and the White House and it worked!
What did Democratic voters, bloggers, progressives do? They complained against the White House and the Democrats in Congress. They took the opportunity given them on the Media to bash the president. They stood against prominent legislation and threaten to "Kill the Health Care bill" if it didn't have certain provisions. In other words they enabled the critics of this White House and Democrats to further demean the efforts and claim that there's not support for this legislation.
So where do we go from here? So far it's blame the White House, rejoice over the lost of Blue Dogs, even though that meant loosing control over the House, but that's OK, because there's more blame to go around. Just don't blame the voters.
