I have to admit I was insulted when I got an email from Move On asking me to call Grier Raggio and ask him to sign a pledge to fight corruption in Washington. "He hasn't signed our pledge," they wrote.
I emailed them back with a snarky note, saying something like, "Hey, he's running against Pete Sessions, one of the most corrupt members of Congress. That isn't good enough for you? Now, he's gotta prove it by signing your pledge?"
But Grier Raggio didn't find the request insulting. That's what he's all about, fighting Washington corruption and making Congress work for the people instead of the lobbyists. Grier Raggio was happy to sign the pledge. If you want to change the culture in Washington, throw a few bucks to Grier Raggio at this link: Grier Raggio for Congress. And, yes, there's more over the jump...
In the interest of full disclosure, I'm not a paid employee of the Raggio campaign, just a Precinct Chair and pissed off resident of TX-32 who's damned sick and tired of being represented by Pete Sessions.
You should be sick and tired of Pete Sessions, too, because he's out there even as I write, using his position as NRCC Chair to raise money for the narrow-minded right-wing freak in YOUR district!
Pete Sessions wants more people in Congress just like himself, who want to go back to the good ol' days of George W. Bush, who write love notes to corrupt billionaires but really don't give a damn if you're going without health care.
If you want to change the culture of corruption, start by helping us kick Pete Sessions' worthless butt out of Congress. The way our district is gerrymandered, we've got a tough road ahead of us, but this year, Democrats have the best chance ever of winning. For one thing, Pete Sessions drew a tea party challenger in the GOP primary who won 15% of the vote--unheard of for a no-name no-money no-endorsements candidate. In the general, there's a Libertarian running who will probably draw off the same 15%, which knocks down Sessions' usual 55% lead to 40%!
And we've got an inspiring candidate in Grier Raggio--if you want to read more about him, check out my previous diaries Help TX-32 Money Bomb Grier Raggio and TX-32: Dallas County Declares Independence from Pete Sessions. What impresses me most about Grier Raggio is that he's actually listening to people all over the district--something that Pete Sessions has yet to do. Grier is adamantly opposed to the current Washington culture that panders to lobbyists instead of working for real Americans like us.
It's no surprise that Grier Raggio willingly put his name on Move On's pledge.
To reclaim my district--and yours--from right-wing nuts, and big money suck-ups, give what you can to Grier Raggio today!
