The constant "9/11 and a one and a two and a 9/11" is the Republican dance. We are supposed to hate everyone who is not a white, male republican trying to return to those glorious days before the Civil War.
The media gleefully latches on to the Republican dance because they know there is money in it. Whoring for the Republicans is the best way to get the raw nerves touched. And raw nerves bring in advertisers. Along with most of the media owned by a handful of corporations.
This day is one of remembrance, not this political sado-masochistic dance that is reinforced by daily intoning by the talking heads. Our nation needs to break the cycle of grief, and especially forced grief. This is a deliberate sadness forced on us to keep us in the grief cycle. Never getting out of the loop. There is money and political power to be made by having a nation in constant mourning and grief.
9/11 is the day the Republicans see as the start of their glorious theocratic and corporate dictatorship. Hell, Bush the idiot floated out the idea of not holding elections if he felt it was not safe to do so. Since that day they have needed to keep Americans down and going down economically with a message of "we will keep you safe" all the while meaning "we will destroy you and your kind until you accept a theocratic dictatorship and live on breadcrumbs".
The constant, deliberate and intensifying attack on America by the Republicans has almost turned a proud country into a banana republic. We have a population "scared" into believing the crap fed them by the media and Republicans. This is a "deliberate sadness". This is what 9/11 means to me now.
9/11 is a day to remember those who died. It is also a day to remember the rapid decline of our country. Not because the Pentagon and World Trade Center were destroyed by terrorists. It is because we should have gathered up and dusted ourselves off and become better. Instead we are in the same damned place we were on 9/12. Only worse off because we no longer have a rich and wonderful country.
The mantra "be afraid" has replaced the American "can do". The Republican attacks on working Americans is deliberate. The power grab is spectacular in scope. Within a couple of years of the 9/11 attacks America was in the spiral of destruction so huge it can barely be seen.
The sadness I feel is for our country. Instead of improving and becoming a world member, we are constantly forced downward by the Republicans. The propaganda produced by them is 24/7. We will have 9/11 as the day American failed, failed by the Republicans.
I will not give up. I do remember America in a better light than the current one of darkened by parsimony.
We have a few Dems in office willing to stand up against the Republican attacks. But too few. I will work hard for Progressive Dems to win office. But they must remember they were elected by Americans, not corporations or theocrats.
