Democratic Senate candidate Bruce Braley voting early on October 24, 2014, in Waterloo, Iowa.
Tally so far:
GOP picks up WV-Sen
DEM picks up PA-Gv
5:00 PM PT: Exit polls shows last minute surge towards Dems:
When did you finally decide…?
In the last three days/in the last week:
VA-Sen D+11
NC-Sen D+6
KY-Sen D+14
GA-Sen D+15
5:03 PM PT: In Virginia counties where we have significant results, Republican Ed Gillespie is at Cuccinelli/Romney levels, which means a victory. Not a landslide, but a victory nonetheless.
5:05 PM PT: Shocker! Democrats pickup governorship in Pennsylvania. Actually, not a shocker, but still a big victory.
5:08 PM PT: Calculations backing out of exit polls:
In Illinois, incumbent Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn trails 48.10 to 48.37. Obviously, we'll have to actually count the votes on that one.
In Maine, Democratic challenger Mike Michaud "leads" 45.70, 45.14. TIGHT!
In NH-Sen, incumbent Democratic Sen. Jean Shaheen leads 52.56-47.44.
Again, this is backing out of the exit polls. Real votes have to be counted.
5:09 PM PT: Charlie Crist is running ahead of the Democratic candidate in 2010 in Miami-Dade, obviously a good sign. Indeed, incumbent Republican Gov. Rick Scott is running behind his 2010 performance in every single county. And he won that race by a single point.
5:11 PM PT: In North Carolina, with 20 percent in, incumbent Dem Kay Hagan leads 52-45 with 20 percent in. Dems won the early vote, so this lead shouldn't be surprising.
5:13 PM PT: ME-Gov, IL-Gov, and MA-Gov all too close to call. MA-Gov? That one is encouraging. Things seemed to be running away from Democrat Martha Coakley.
5:14 PM PT: Half of Wake County, NC (Raleigh) reporting. Hagan leads by 16 percent. Obama won it by 11 percent.
5:18 PM PT: If you're watching live results, you'll see that Rick Scott has taken a narrow lead against Charlie Crist in Florida. Don't panic. The panhandle is starting to come in, while Miami-Dade is under-rporting (less than 1 percent reporting). Scott is still underperforming his 2010 numbers.
5:22 PM PT: In GA-Sen, Republican David Perdue so far running ahead of Chambliss in 2008. Chambliss won first round 49-46.
5:24 PM PT (Barbara Morrill): New thread here.
