I tell you it just doesn’t stop in Clark County. We netted another 563 registered active voters today so the count is now 424,254 Dems to 289,119 Reps among active voters for an advantage of 135,135. At the close of registration for the 2012 election our advantage was 127,471 so we’re way ahead of that. It’s astounding to think that we could possibly hold a voter registration advantage of over 140,000 in Clark County by the deadline on October 18th. It’s totally within reach.
Suffice it to say that every single day that we have like today makes it easier to hold onto Harry Reid’s senate seat. It bears repeating: Clark County contains roughly 70% of the active voters in the state of Nevada. Hillary is going to win Nevada and that has never been in doubt as far as I’m concerned. The only question is whether Catherine Cortez Masto can prevail against Joe Heck-if-I-Know. My prediction is that she wins it by exactly one percentage point. And I think Hillary will win the state by seven points.
I remember a conversation I had with my Dad on the phone back in spring 2012. Boy, it’s just astounding how time flies isn’t it? It seems like just yesterday. In any case, my Dad and I were talking about how certain states were transforming rapidly and one of the states we were discussing was Nevada. I remember telling him that I considered Nevada a blue state now and that I believed it would never again vote Republican in presidential elections in my lifetime. I absolutely believe that’s true. Demographically, Nevada has reached a tipping point, so to speak. It is becoming more diverse by the day and Clark County is a microcosm of how this country has changed over the past two decades. It’s really quite astonishing. And I like it.
