1. Independents are forced to pay for private party operations. Either the parties should pay if they want to be an exclusive club or they should be open to independents
2. Errors by boards of elections are unduly burdensome to voters if an error is made by the state
3. The laws have been structured by both parties to prevent the rise of viable non Democratic and Republican alternatives. Forcing membership while blocking other parties from the ballot is wrong
4 voters can and do change their mind based on policy and candidate. Do you want to prevent new Dem voters from joining the party ?
5. The laws impact young, people of color, low income and working class voters more
6. The laws favor the status quo rather than respect dynamics of current developments
7. From a historical stand point, I favor more democracy , not less
8. From that same history , arguments like voters are too stupid plays into the same arguments used like asking poll questions to vote
9. Such arguments also undermine rebuttal that we make about GOP suppression laws decreasing voter turn.
10. We have real world examples of how these laws reduce turn out . We don't have evidence of the arguments made by close primary advocates. In fact , the evidence is just the opposite.
11. I don't like hypocritical positions. I'm also for eliminating caucuses, increasing the number of House Members to reflect population size, eliminating third party barriers to entry and other tools that the two parties use to keep us under control. The point is these are my principles. I don't care if these changes would have helped Sanders or Clinton.
