Courts rendered our Death Penalty unconstitutional.
A former police officer from a REPUBLICAN rural district has put forward a bill to amend it allowing it to go forward if there is even only one aggravating instance.
It passed the House Judiciary Committee last night, and is being fast tracked on the floor of our House session beginning at 2 o’clock TODAY’S afternoon.
They are capitalizing on the timing of a recent cop killing a week ago, (which even affected me on an emotional level).
The quickness of this has caught us flat footed and “unawares”. Many of our usual local whips against these type of things are out of town, and haven’t yet heard the news. As of this writing, our two Democratic blogs are still silent on this issue thinking it’s a quiet newsday… .
I am asking for outside assistance. I am asking for jamming our state’s switchboards with calls simply stating your request that they vote no on Representative Smyk’s HB125 to reinstate the death penalty. (If you are calling about the ACA, please slip this one in too… )
I know outside calls are frowned on by our local politicos. But if we don't get them today, this bill will pass and probably pass our Senate. Our only hope is that a sheer volume of calls will put some cold feet on our sympathetic-to-this-bill House Speaker, so that he will choose to delay the vote long enough (a week) to allow our entrenched politically connected activists time to rally and do their thing…
Expecting this, they have washed the website of correct phone numbers… (111) 123-4567)…
Prior the correct phone number was this: House Democrats Receptionist: (302) 744-4351
Jamming these phones with pleas to vote against the death penalty would be the most effective route to postponing the surprise (not even agenda’d yet) vote to take place this afternoon…
Assuming these number will soon be whitewashed too, here they are in print, just in case.

Due the the impact and connection Delaware has upon the corporate world, and their ability to overwhelm us with lobbyists, I apologize as a Delawarean for the conservative nature of our Democratic leadership, even though we are one of the few trifecta blue states in existence. We do have a high measure of progressives however, of which we are proud…
You should be aware that if you engage any of these directly you will be talking to the conservative side of our party…
But the game today is just in sheer numbers. You can really make a difference in the fight to eliminate the death penalty nationwide by securing this small victory in this small state, today.
