So what was Senator Warren up to Thursday. She went after Mayor Pete for his high-dollar fundraisers when she has been doing the same thing herself. It would be bad enough if she had just transferred the $10,000,000 left over from her 2016 Senate Campaign Fund to her Presidential Campaign Fund, but it turns out she was holding these same type of high-dollar fundraisers for her “Senate Campaign Fund” well into this election cycle - with one at a wine venue just months before she announced her presidential run. And if you gave $1,000, you got a souvenir bottle of wine.

This is so counterproductive because this whole thing is a false narrative. Presidential campains are so costly ($1 Billion and up) that someone who gives $5,600 does not have anymore influence than someone who gives $20. That $5,600 is .0005% of what the Democratic Nominee will ultimately need to raise. Until the laws are changed to publicly fund elections, successful candidates will need to raise money from both small and large donors.
The real money problem in our politics that she should be addressing is the SuperPacs (where billionaires literally fund candidates) and the unrestricted lobbying that has created “the swamp”.
